Teen Chayim
Teen Chayim 7th - 10th Grade
The Teen Chayim program for 7th-10th graders, meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm. Our primary goals of the program including having the teens explore and reflect on issues of today through a Jewish lens and to strengthen their connection to Judaism, the synagogue, and the greater community. We welcome the input of the teens as we develop our grade level core classes and electives. Our teens know that we will listen and incorporate their ideas, making our program theirs!
To this end, our program has 3 primary objectives:
1. Social: We will begin the program with light dinner (pizza, bagels, etc) to give teens some down time between school, sports/afterschool activities and our program. This time also is for sitting with friends and connecting!
2. Learn a little: Grade level core classes and the electives program allow the teens to discuss, reflect and find personal meaning in the topic. Our goal is to delve into the topic and spark interest in continuing to explore beyond Teen Chayim.
3. Experiential learning: Teens learn by "doing" and experiencing with other teens. By bringing in programs or speakers on social justice, Israel, and other relevant topics and be engaging in mitzvah projects, our teens will find their voice on what is meaningful to them and carry this voice forward as they go to college and beyond!

It has been a year since October 7th and the horror of that day continues to haunt us. As this war continues with no end in sight many of us find ourselves shackled by despair, reactivity, and fear as we struggle to both communicate and listen to others in constructive and compassionate ways. If our hope is to create a community that equally values Oz (strength) and Anavah (humility), then we must find ways to support and deepen our connections to each other as we strive to find comfort in the discomfort of difficult and messy conversations. This heart-centered and courageous workshop will be facilitated by Kol Ami member Orly Maravankan and Darchei Noam member Eleonora Bartoli with support from Rabbi Danielle. Questions?
