High Holy Days Info To Know...
PARKING - There are ample parking spaces at Darchei Noam, however, we ask that people drive together when possible. If the synagogue lot is full, please park in one of the many Ambler Municipal parking lots (Municipal Parking Lots Map). Please, do not park in the Post Office parking lot.
SECURITY / SAFETY - Security Personnel will be on premises at all times during our High Holy Day Services. Vouchers and name tags will help ensure the congregation is kept safe at all times.
In consideration for our clergy, staff and fellow congregants, if you are feeling ill, please stay home. Most services are available through a Zoom. See the service schedule for details.
VOUCHERS -
YOM KIPPUR - Vouchers are required for Kol Nidre, Young Family Service, L'dor Vador & Torah/Musaf Service
Vouchers are NOT required for Ne'ilah, Ma'ariv, Havdalah and Shofar Service.
NAME TAGS - Please find your nametag when you enter the building and, for security reasons, please wear it in the synagogue while in attendance. Name tags are available for adult members of Darchei Noam. Please remember to place your name tag back on the table before you leave.
OUT OF TOWN GUESTS - Service attendance is reserved for members only. However, if you have an out-of-town guest joining you for the holidays, they are welcome to attend in place of a member for most services with the exception of our Torah/Musaf services. Please note that the Torah/Musaf services are already at capacity based on the number of registrations we have received. Your guests are also welcome to attend Kol Nidre, Neilah, Ma'ariv, Havdalah and Shofar Service on Yom Kippur. Visiting guests in 2nd grade and below are also welcome to attend the Young Family Service on both holidays. However, we do ask that you register your guests for this service (please email Nancy at Nancy@darcheipa.org)
COMMUNITY SERVICES - The following services are open to extended family and friends, as well as the community and do not require a voucher to attend -Neilah, Ma'ariv, Havdalah and Shofar Service.
Donations for guests and community members attending services is always appreciated - Donation Page
SEATING - seating in the sanctuary is on a first arrival basis. Once seats are full, we will utilize the lobby for overflow using the large television for virtual viewing. We anticipate this will be utilized during the Torah/Musaf services. If space becomes available during a service with overflow, those in the overflow area are invited to move into the sanctuary to occupy the newly available seats.
Food Drive - This year has been significantly hard on our neighbors. Our congregation is committed to being part of the overall Ambler community. Therefore, we have added a High Holy Day Food Drive for the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard . It will run from Oct 2 - Oct 25. Please bring a non-perishable item to place in the assigned bins in our lobby.
USHERING - We are thankful to all of our members who have offered their time to volunteer as an usher at Yom Kippur services. If you did not share your interest on the registration form, it is not too late! Please contact Jennifer Jacobs.
Yom Kippur Break the Fast - Unfortunately, we did not have enough interest this year to schedule this event. Therefore, we have not planned this event for 2024/5785. We will consider this again for next year if the congregation expresses interest.
High Holy Day Mahzor
Darchei Noam uses Machzor Lev Shalem as the prayerbook for the High Holy Days. If you have purchased one of your own, please bring it with you to services. Darchei Noam does have copies, however they are limited. if you would like to purchase your own, you can buy it directly on Amazon.
If you are attending the High Holy Days virtually through Zoom, you can rent a Lev Shalem Machzor (digitally as a .pdf) for $3 through the Rabbinical Assembly Bookstore. This allows you to download a .pdf which automatically expires at the end of Sukkot/Simchat Torah. (Note: This website closes down on Chag, so please make sure you purchase this rental before Rosh Hashanah starts.)
